Stories

This Mum’s, Those Mum’s, Our mum’s Stories is a virtual venue for parents doing it alone to voice their story.

Single mums are invited to pen their personal experiences  both good and bad.

The purpose is to create an avenue for therapeutic expression, a place to share experiences, emotion and of course a place to offer information.

It is hoped that in time given permission, valuable information provided by those of you who have lived your experiences will be utilized in the improvement of services, conditions and quality of life for the single parent, their children and generations to come.

Access to stories is gained through membership to the site. Further information regarding membership will be posted in the near future.

Submitting Your Story

When you submit your story you are invited to leave your name and address although in these early days all stories which appear will be edited prior to being published to as to remain anonymous and should have a unique ID.

Please do not use real names for individuals in your stories.

You are encouraged to:

  • include job titles rather than names of individuals
  • departments
  • organisations
  • leave an age bracket and/or description eg (teen mum) (18 – 25) (25 – 35) (35 – 45) etc
  • sign off using an emotional expression that summarises your story
  • create an identity to sign off under
  • nominate your locality such as state and country

You are invited to write numerous stories

Suggestions:

  • use headings
  • include a vol. no after your unique ID
  • if your story or event is lengthy make one event a story i.e. create another story eg Chapter 2 or simply using paragraph headings
If you have suggestions regarding:
  • education
  • housing
  • health
  • career
  • finances
  • shared care
  • family law
  • the legal system
  • legal aid resources
  • mediation
  • government assistance
  • work requirements and home/work balance/lifestyle
  • specific parenting issues eg  practical assistance, behaviour
  • comparisons to couple parent families
You may like to check out the tabs under the Page Taking Action above and leave your comments.
Lastly I’m interested to know, if you would like to mention
  • needs you have as an individual and a parent that are not being met
  • how this affects your parenting
  • any concerns for yourself and your children
  • what you are grateful for and why? (This one would be great to place at the END OF YOUR STORY)
  • and finally things you would like to share about what you have learned about yourself
Thank you for sharing and contributing!
I’m looking forward to reading YOUR STORY!
With love and Blesses,
Dianne
P.S. Stories will appear under the Categories drop down menu to the right of the page, for the time being.
